The London Nautical School Sixth Form
Sixth Form Entry for September 2020
Arrangements for Admissions to Sixth Form
There will be a maximum of 80 places in Year 12 for admission from Year 11 to the Sixth Form.
To be offered a place in the London Nautical School Sixth Form students will normally have a minimum of 5, 5-9 grades at GCSE including English, and Mathematics.
To be eligible to pursue a subject at A level students will be required to have at least a grade 6 in that subject at GCSE or Grade 7 in Maths.
To be eligible to pursue a vocational route students will normally be expected to have at least a pass with Merit in the BTEC First Diploma. Detailed requirements will be published in the Sixth Form Prospectus.
Each student follows either a vocational and / or A Levels. Students following A Levels will normally study three subjects plus the extended project in Year 12. In some cases a mixture of these qualifications will be offered to ensure the best possible chance of success.
Applicants will be invited to an informal meeting to discuss courses, attendance and punctuality. On the basis of this meeting applicants will be given either an outright offer, subject to meeting minimum entry conditions or a conditional offer.
Conditional offers on courses will be made on the basis of mock examination results, teacher predictions of likely GCSE performance. In this case, applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
Offers will be confirmed following the publication of the GCSE results in August.
